Dufresne Dufresne

Dufresne is the first ongoing musical project directed by Jimmy Bowman (Mandarin Dreams). The project sees Jimmy step to the fore following 12 years as a sideman in the music industry and is focused on dancefloor music, bringing funk and disco influences into a modern context informed by hip hop production and enhanced by electronic sounds. Currently, Dufrene’s released recordings have been almost entirely performed, produced and mastered by Jimmy from a makeshift studio.

With a lengthy academic history and well established career as a professional musician under his belt, Dufresne studied under the likes of Bob Mintzer (Yellowjackets), Jim Pugh (Steely Dan), James Morrison and Ray Vega (Tito Puente), performed with musicians such as Barbarito Torres (Buena Vista Social Club), Sly & Robbie (Jamaica), Mahmoud Ahmed (Ethiopia), Leroy Jones (USA) and appeared on the stages of Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Hamer Hall, WOMADelaide / WOMAD NZ and Woodford Folk Festival.
